Cocchi Brachetto d’Acqui

Original price was: $32.00.Current price is: $28.50.
BRACHETTO D’ACQUI The most characteristic of sweet red sparkling wines, it has been a constant throughout the history of Piedmontese wine. It grows on the gently rolling hills of the Upper Monferrato area, and ever since antiquity Acqui Terme has been its terroir of choice, and a diverse one, where this aromatic varietal finds its best expression GRAPE VARIETY 100% Brachetto d’Acqui VINIFICATION AND SPARKLING WINE MAKING Bunches of grapes are harvested by hand and immediately pressed to obtain a very sweet and cherry red must, which will then ferment in autoclave. Thanks to this technique, the aromatic qualities of the grape pass to the wine, releasing its intense scent of rose and raspberry. TASTING NOTES Cherry red with light notes and a joyful foam; vibrant, fresh and stylish bouquet with an intense scent of rose; gentle, slightly tannic to balance the sweet aroma and grant a pleasant persistence. It is the perfect party wine that goes naturally well with fresh fruits, pastries or elaborate desserts. A young wine to be served chilled; ideal for bars and patisseries, it can be best presented in cup-shaped glasses with a garnish of wild berries.

Waipara West Pinot Noir 2018

Original price was: $82.00.Current price is: $62.00.
Estate grown on 3 blocks with differing soil structure, wind exposure and clones – early 1980’s selections from St Helena and more recent Dijon clones. The colour is an attractive, very bright ruby garnet with distinct crimson hues at the rim. Aromatically it is as striking as it is seductive. Bright red fruits - raspberry, strawberry and Morello cherry have immediate impact with an equally impressive array of oriental spices - anise and clove. Ripe seed aromas of almond kernel and cherry stone lift the nose. Time reveals an inner core of darker black cherry, and just a hint of bramble all kept in check by some very attractive yet subtle French oak. The palate is soft, silken and warm but with a certain nervosité which is to say that as a young wine it may appear both bright in acidity and forward in tannins, but that’s just for starters. Those are simply the framework in which the wine is cradled, the fruit depth is palpable, the Pinosity generous and its presence authoritative.

Locations CA4 California Red Wine

Original price was: $48.00.Current price is: $43.00.
Geographic diversity is what Locations – CA is all about. Provided with a wide assortment of microclimates and soil profiles to exploit, it can be a winemakers dream. With a goal in mind to create a blend that showcases the best of the Golden State, we navigated the famed appellations of Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and the Sierra Foothills for prized fruit. Once secured, we were able to apply some creativity with the blending components to ultimately settle on a wine worthy of Locations Veiled in dark ruby red, the wine bursts with a tempting perfume of red and black fruits, dried rose petals, and a peppery note which offers some lift. Dense and ripe upon first pass, it evolves into a savory compote of raspberry, kirsch, and bitter cherry balanced out with mineral and herbal notes. The finish is substantial with tangy acidity, yet buffered with polished tannins that please the palate. Blend of Petite Sirah, Barbera, Tempranillo, Syrah, and Grenache Barrel aged 10 months in French oak barrels. "If you like big, rich reds with lots of dried-fruit and bark character, then this is for you. Full body. Chewy tannins. More like a dry port, but I like its historical sensibility. A blend of petite sirah, barbera, tempranillo, syrah, and grenache. Drink now." - James Suckling, 90 points

Ornellaia 2016 “La Tensione”

$300.00
Ornellaia is a cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot and the faithful expression of unique terroir developed in harmony with nature. 2016 represents another immensely successful vintage highlighting all the virtues of Bolgheri’s climate: abundant sunshine, without excessive heat, a dry summer to allow the grapes to achieve perfect ripeness and concentration, and just about enough rain to avoid stress. All these elements combine to yield a wine that shows lush ripeness and crisp firmness, opposing forces creating a sense of dense raciness we like to describe as “tension”. Particularly dark and young colour is the prelude to a complex nose of black berries, spices and cedar. The palate is rich and dense, balanced by a refined and firm tannic structure, lifted by a juicy and bright acidity. 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot Awards

A ‘Pure Rice’ sake made without charcoal filtration, pasteurisation or dilution. Robust and full flavour. Tasting Note: Displays a vibrant, pale lemon colour in the glass. Aromatics take some time to emerge, and while only mildly intense the aromas are quite complex with notes of white flowers and acacia, layered over pear, green apple, custard and white chocolate. There's a good weight to this sake on the palate, creamy and textural, showing excellent umami feel. As with the nose this is notably complex with flavours of pear, apple, hints of lychee and green melon, custard and white chocolate. Excellent. Serve chilled.

Starward Fortis

$145.00
Fortis meaning ‘brave, bold’, is a full bodied, full flavoured whisky that celebrates local Australian ingredients. Bottled at a higher ABV of 50% and non-chill filtered, this whisky is fully matured in 100% American oak red wine barrels, predominately sourced from the Barossa Valley. These barrels, which previously held big Australian bold reds like cabernet and shiraz, offer a fuller and richer mouthfeel to this single malt whisky. Starward Fortis is blended in batches, meaning each batch will be unique but will maintain the core flavour profile and intensity. Nose: Very forward aromas of Madagascan vanilla pods, rich toasted American oak, blackberry jam, raisins, caramelised fig, raw sugar and over ripe plums. Palate: Rich and full bodied, upfront vanillin, quince paste, Muscadelle raisins, chocolate ganache, cinnamon and baked banana bread. Finish: Viscous and long. It really captures the whole palate and balances well with a finish of baking spices from the oak and ripe figs and raisins.

The Glendronach Revival 15 Years (Restage)

After ceasing production in 2015, The GlenDronach Revival Aged 15 years now returns to the core range of the distillery’s line-up. The expression embodies The GlenDronach’s signature style of Spanish Sherry Cask maturation in fine Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía, quietly growing in stature for 15 years in the darkness of our dunnage warehouses. In flavour, the expression offers sumptuous notes of dark fruits, rich chocolate and manuka honey with an enveloping, memorable finish worthy of this monumental malt’s history. This luxuriously sherried Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural in colour.
  • Colour: Antique Bronze.
  • Nose: An intoxicating burst of maraschino cherry, ripe bramble and dark chocolate mint with hints of orange bitters and walnut liquer.
  • Taste: Honey-glazed apricot and ripe fig with a crescendo of black cherry, angelica and muscovado.
  • Finish: Long and enveloping with dark manuka honey, herbal bitters and dark chocolate.
Food Pairing: Appetizer (eg, Smoked Salmon*), and Snacks *Another faint puff of smoke works to tease hidden flavours from the salmon, including coffee beans and even mint. Both harbour coastal influences, and the brown sugar notes of the spirit temper any of the salmon’s residual bitterness.
