Cocchi Storico Vermouth di Torino

$68.00
COCCHI STORICO VERMOUTH DI TORINO
Vermouth di Torino is a collective heritage of Piedmont, which sees in the royal Savoy court as first big promoter of a product which, mainly starting from the late XVIII century, generated a flourishing industry which led Piedmont to become the Kingdom of Vermouth. In occasion of the 120 years from the foundation, Storico Vermouth di Torino is again produced according to the original recipe of Giulio Cocchi. This vermouth belongs to the category of the sweet vermouths, or Italian vermouths, sweet and amber as indicated in the manuals of the late XIX century. Storico Vermouth di Torino Cocchi has been the protagonist of the international rebirth of the top-of-the-range vermouths and the renovated interest of the great barmen for the denomination Vermouth di Torino so that it is also familiarly denominated “Cocchi Torino”. In a very short time, it’s become one of the top-of-the-range Vermouths chosen in the best bars of the world. botanical-library-Storico-Vermouth-di-Torino
CHARACTERISTICS
The original recipe of Giulio Cocchi calls for the use of herbs such as Cinchona and rhubarb which lightly colour of brown the beautiful clear wine. In order to emphasize its amber tone, the addition of sugar browned on fire emphasizes its amber tone, giving together with colour also a special note to the taste: crunchy and cotton candy able to round all the bitter tastes without using vanilla. A thrilling vermouth, rich in sensations: among the herbs and the aromatizing spices, Artemisia and citrus are the protagonists with their balanced bitter and citrusy notes which characterize Cocchi style. A rich taste with vibrant notes of cocoa and bitter orange. From the infusion of some noble and balsamic woods, we have in the end light aromas of camphor and rosemary notes. Among the minor ingredients, herbs and woods with unique perfumes such as sandal, musk, myrrh and nutmeg.

Cocchi Americano Bianco

$68.00
AMERICANO
Cocchi Americano is an aromatized wine created in 1891 by Giulio Cocchi and since then produced without interruption according to the original recipe. The name “Americano” is both due to the alcohol made bitter (“amaricato”) by the addition of herbs and spices and to the American habit of drinking vermouth with ice and soda. Produced according to Giulio Cocchi original recipe, Cocchi Americano is recognized in Asti as the aperitif par excellence – a real piece of history of our town. On its label the original futurist rooster designed in the 30’s and representing his aperitif function (“it awakes the appetite”) as well as one of the symbols of the town of Asti. botanical-library-americano-new
CHARACTERISTICS
Cocchi Americano, for its nature, represents the link between wine and liquors being a wine plus a small quantity of alcohol bittered (“amaricato”) by the infusion of precious herbs and spices: white wine, sugar, herbs and spices infusion in alcohol and in particular gentian flowers and leaves, Artemisia, Cinchona, bitter orange peel, elderflower and others. To produce Cocchi Americano, white wine is aromatized with the extracts obtained through a cold infusion in alcohol, then refined for balancing the spices’ aromas and tastes.
HOW TO DRINK IT
The classic version sees it served well chilled in a cocktail glass with ice cubes, completed with a splash of seltz so to free all its aromas and typical perfumes. It can be perfected with a squeezed out orange peel. The Spritz Americano version foresees the use of a wine glass plus the addition of a dry sparkling wine. It becomes Royale in combination with a metodo classico Alta Langa DOCG. In the Summer version the glass is filled with chopped-up ice, making a perfect refreshing drink. The naturally bitter note of Americano is not lost even when abundantly diluted. In mixology, Cocchi Americano is exceptionally versatile for the classic cocktails as Vesper Martini, Corpse Reviver #2, White Negroni, as modifier or as a base for the aromatizing infusions. Particularly successful the combination with spirits such as gin, vodka and metzcal. It is a perfect ingredient for the new strong trend of the “low octane” cocktails with low alcoholic content.

Cocchi Vermouth di Torino Extra Dry Piemontese

$52.00
Cocchi Vermouth di Torino Extra Dry, released on the year of Cocchi’s 130th anniversary, is a classic-style vermouth from the birthplace of vermouth, Piemonte. “Ricetta Piemontese”(Piedmontese recipe), stated on the label, is a very precise indication of the content: all the relevant ingredients for this vermouth come from Piemonte and have a strong bond with our region. The wine used for this vermouth is Cortese, the same grape used for Gavi DOCG. The Artemisia Absinthium, is 100% from Piemonte mountains. The aromatic profile is characterized by Menta di Pancalieri, a local variety of peppermint, and lemon, traditionally used to garnish vermouth in our region. The Cocchi Extra Dry proudly carries the “Vermouth di Torino” appellation. Characteristics The wine at its hearth comes from local Cortese grapes (same grape used for Gavi DOCG), which is then married with lemon peels and Piedmontese mint as well as botanicals such as wormwood, angelica, coriander and cardamom for a fragrant and perfectly balanced character. Kuroki Honten Nakanaka Barley Shochu

$63.00
Nakanaka is the main brand of barley shochu from the well-respected Kuroki Honten distillery. It is the same barley shochu used in distillery’s well known oak barrel aged barley shochu Hyakunen no Kodoku. Nakanaka is aged for a much shorter period in kame, traditional clay pots similar to amphorae used for aging shochu. Underground spring water from Osuzu Mountain streams is being used.
100% mugi (barley), with koji grown on barley replacing malting and distilled at low pressure on a vacuum still to preserve aromatics resulting in a full bodied shochu with distinct notes of chocolate and a rich sweetness on the palate.
While excellent served with chilled water or on ice, to truly appreciate the complex aromas and flavors of Nakanaka we recommend to drink it oyuwari (with hot water) which unlocks a lot of the subtleties and allow the chocolate notes to linger on the tongue.

Cocchi Barolo Chinato

$88.00
BAROLO CHINATO
Born in Piedmont in the last century, it soon spread thanks to its taste, well balanced between bitter and sweet, and especially for the leading effect on the market of its name “Barolo”, that immediately positioned it among the noblest products compared to various other types of alcoholic drinks based on cinchona. Inventor of this original recipe, Giulio Cocchi was also the protagonist of the diffusion of Barolo Chinato. In Italy its consumption was encouraged by the fame it gained as therapeutic wine. A traditional remedy in Piedmont to cure many small sicknesses, especially in case of cooling. Drunk as a vin brulé, hot and invigorating, its antipyretic and digestive capacities were widely recognized. Serving it to the guests became a typical tradition of the farmers’ hospitality. Over time, the use of this aromatized wine changed and today, in the general wake to recover traditions and naturality, it’s been rediscovered with new and interesting consumption styles. botanical-library-barolo-chinato

HOW TO DRINK IT
The occasions to appreciate Cocchi Barolo Chinato are diverse, with a particular success in the good restoration when served at environment temperature or as elegant end of the meal or even steam heated with orange zest. A top-of the-range product distributed by Giulio Cocchi to accompany the tasting and to show the successful marriage.
