Chteau d'Avize

Although the restoration of Château d’Avize is not yet on the schedule, although the eponymous cuvée is not yet marketed, the vineyard currently converting to organic farming and the very modern winery equipped with stainless steel vats are on top! In the annexe of the chateau, two ranges of Champagne called Victor Dravigny and Foliage are proposed for tasting. An address to remind for the wine tourists.

Château d’Avize has been built in the 19th century on a hilltop, in the middle of the village and its Grand Cru vineyard. The history of the Chateau d'Aviz castle dates to the beginning of the 19th century, when the de Casanov family decided to go into the wine trade business in Champagne. The castle was replaced by many owners, and since 2010 the winery belongs to the Titov family. Boris Titov sought to fully unlock the potential of Chardonnay in his vineyards and entrusted the management of the Champagne House to his friend Herve Zhesten, an outstanding oenologist and consultant in the field of biodynamic winemaking. Chateau d'Aviz has underground galleries of great length, where the wines are provided with ideal aging conditions. The vineyards lie at the foot of the Chateau as a continuous stretch and, thanks to its ideal location, constant lighting with warm sunshine and rich clay-calcareous soils, give Chardonnay of high quality. In 2015, the vineyards received the AB certificate, and in 2018 - the Demeter certificate.

Chateau d’Avize Blanc de Blanc Champagne AOC 2012

$390.00
Smells fresh with lemon and soft floral scents. Delicate and refined this is crips sharp and piercing yet also layered and rich. Bitter lemon rind mixes with honeyed orange and some pie crust savoury elements to give real character. A little bit woody still just peeking out in contrast to the fruit still showing its youthfulness. After a few minutes all the flavours seem much brighter in the glass more evocative and expressive. Thrillingly precise dry and crisp. The 2012 Chateau d’Avize is an ethereal Champagne that personifies the meticulous processes at Leclerc Briant. The nose shows layered citrus fruits, pear, white flowers, and fresh patisserie. The palate is ripe and shows notes of brioche and toast underpinning the white fruits. Medium Bodied 100% Chardonnay
