Owner and winemaker of his family’s Châteauneuf du Pape estate since 2006, ‘Guillaume Gonnet, Vigneron’, was created by Guillaume and his Australian wife Kelly.
Before joining his family as 3rd generation winemaker, Guillaume travelled the world working in some of the most famous wineries in Bordeaux, Burgundy, The Napa Valley, New Zealand and finally in Australia where he met his future wife.
One of the first conversations the couple had was a long discussion about “terroir” and it’s expression in wine. Terroir refers to all of the environmental elements that affect the quality of the grapes and, ultimately, the characteristics of the wine. Guillaume has always been fascinated by the notion of “terroir”, most notably about how the Southern Rhône varieties express themselves in diverse terroir.
Guillaume Gonnet wines are the realisation of their dream to explore the potential of Southern Rhône grape varieties in varying terroir in the South of France, and around the world. Guillaume and Kelly purchased their own plots in Châteauneuf du Pape in 2015. With their vines, and selected parcels, Guillaume continues to produce wine that reflects his philosophy for winemaking – Minimal interference with the “terroir effect” by following biodynamic agricultural principles, ensuring the wine is the right blend of Southern Rhone varieties – Grenache, Syrah and Mouvèdre, to attain complexity, balance and soft, elegant tannins and following an approach to aging using very little wood influence.
Guillaume and Kelly’s range of wines has grown to include a number of outstanding appellations in the Southern Rhône, including Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Village, Lirac, Cairanne, Tavel and of course, Châteauneuf du Pape.

Crème de cassis, cherries, a lovely note of licorice on the palate, mixed with pepper and Asian spices. “Le Reveur Rouge” is a wine that marries with a great range of food. Imagine yourself enjoying this wine with a lovely mixed plate of charcuterie and cheese, a gourmet pizza or something a little different like Peking duck pancakes.

Grapefruit, citrus aromas, white floral notes, a highly expressive and complex nose, nice acidity and minerality in the mouth. A lovely saltiness at the end of the palate. “Le Reveur” is a wine that marries well with seafood, chicken, rabbit and fresh cheeses. It is the perfect aperitif, served with dips and chips.

Dark fruit, plum, blueberry, blackberries, licorice, raisin, slight earthy and herbal notes coming through with a hint of black pepper. Beautiful complexity! An intensely rich wine, perfect with any great meal of substance. This wine is bold and rich, whilst retaining a beautiful balance on the palate. Think baked lamb, duck confit or a coq au vin rouge. This is a fine wine that will open up beautifully if decanted at least one hour before service.

Soft round tannins, a very elegant wine. Red and black fruit bouquet, (cherries, blackberries), hints of garrigues, Christmas cake and peppery spice. A fine wine. This wine will open beautifully if decanted at least 1 hour before serving. Good for pairing with Coq au Vin, Magret de Canard (Duck), charcuterie such as Parma ham, spicy sausage, and a selection of cheeses, such as comté and beaufort.

A bouquet of ripe fruits, morello cherries, blackcurrants, blackberries, liquorice, bay leaves, thyme and rosemary, oriental spices, and hints of dark chocolate. This wine will evolve beautifully in the glass or would benefit from decanting. A fine wine with a great aging potential.
Slow roasted, French trimmed rack of lamb served with herb and cream patato bake, duck breast stuffed with sugared almonds, drizzled with a cranberry glaze accompanied by steamed baby potatoes. Hard, aged cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort

Guillaume Gonnet La Muse Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2016
A rich, opulent, generous wine with big aromatic complexity : black cherries, blackberries, fig, cocoa powder, coffee, licorice, chinese five spice, olive jam. Round and sexy.
Braised venison with rosemary served with a patato puree, fillet mignon with a balsamic glaze served with sauted potatoes, pepper fillet steak served with shoe string French fries. The rich fruit and coco powder aromas means this wine marries well with dark chocolate or dark chocolate desserts.
