"Violet and warm cassis aromas and flavors lead the way, melding with applewood, ganache, aƧaĆ and blueberry reduction notes along the way. Almost lush in the end, but there's a buried tarry streak giving it just a bit of grippy texture for contrast. Serious juice. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc." - 95 points, James Molesworth,Ā Senior Editor and Special Projects Director at Wine Spectator
"Currants and blackberries with crushed stone and fresh herbs. Some flower stem, too. Itās full-bodied, yet tight and linear with firm, driven tannins. This needs four or five years of bottle age to open and come together.Ā " - 94 points, James Suckling

VINTAGE 2o19
Abundant spring rains, nearly double the annual average, saturated the soil and provided ample water for the growing season. The first signs of budbreak were observed in the vineyard on March 27th; a full 15 days later than usual. This delay led to later bloom and veraison. However, warmer temperatures toward the end of summer accelerated the fruitās development and maturity. Picking began on September 10th, a couple of days earlier than average. The harvest lasted four weeks, and activity in the cellar proceeded at a calm and steady pace.
The Opus One 2019 has intense aromas of black plum, blueberry, black currant, and dried rose petals, accentuated by mineral undertones. The creamy, satiny texture is framed by finegrained tannins. The freshness and soft glow of acidity create a subtle tension with dark fruit flavors, savory herbs, espresso, and cocoa. A delicate dark chocolate bitterness lingers on the finish.

The delicacy, intensity, and structure of a red wine strongly depend on the quality of the internal surface of clay contained in the soil. Chateau de Pommard Clos Marey Monge-75 Rangs 2018
Thousands of years ago, an underground spring flooded the 0.85 hectare of 75 Rangs with minerals. Planted in 1962 and 1964, this plot located at the lowest topographic position in the Clos Marey-Monge benefits from shallow and limestone-rich soil that produces a Pinot Noir rich in minerals with a salty finish.
The 75 rows of the eponymous plot allow us to develop a wine with a ruby color, reputed to be the backbone of our Clos Marey-Monge Monopole.
Tasting Notes: Its nose reveals aromas of rose and red fruit highlighted by iodine and mineral notes. The palate is fresh and deliciously chiseled. The tannins are silky and the wine's airy side is reinforced by a singular salinity. With its saline, mineraly finish, our 75 Rangs 2018 stands out as a refined wine built for aging.
Recommended Serving Temperature: 16Ā°C
"Sandalwood, rose petals and charred mesquite perfume this bottling sourced from 75 rows of vines situated in the lowest topographic position of the Clos Marey-Monge. A touch softer and richer in fruit ripeness than the producer's āMonopoleā bottling, it offers plush roasted-plum and black-cherry flavors lifted by tart blackberry acidity and a chalky, salty limestone finish. Still approaching peak, the wine should drink beautifully from 2024 through 2038. " - 94 points, Wine Enthusiast
