A slightly golden and shiny yellow color. A fresh nose, on fruits such as peach and mirabelle plum, with some notes of white flowers. The attack is energetic, suave and saline. The palate is elegant and pure, with good acidity. It is a harmonious and dry wine with a digestible balance. A perfect gourmet Pinot Gris, to drink without moderation.
Yangarra Roux Beaute Roussanne 2019
The 2019 growing season was very dry, which resulted in incredibly low yields. We had a relatively warm lead up to the ripening period, which produced a very condensed and fast harvest. With Roussanne being a late ripening variety, it faired very well in a season like this, giving rise to concentration, freshness of flavor and marked natural acidity.
Hand-picked from Block 6 (1.0 ha) on March 16th, our oldest Roussanne planting which is now 15 years old. 50% is destemmed, crushed, and filled to 675L ceramic eggs, where it is fermented and remains on the skins for 193 days. The other 50% is pressed into ceramic eggs and fermented off of the skins. The final blend was 40% extended skin batch and 60% without skin contact. After several years the 2021 harvest started by the end of February in what we refer to as “normal timing”, the main reason is given that we had a colder season that led into a slower maturation curve, thus accomplishing a more homogeneous process that brought complexity and intensity to the grapes. The characteristics of this harvest derived in moderate yields, which benefited the concentration of the fruit, allowing for its origins and variety to express themselves to its full potential. As always, the first variety to be harvested was our Sauvignon Blanc, this year surprised us with great aromatic potential, both fresh and expressive. Being the result of a cold year, it delivers freshness in the mouth, with a long crispy acidity at the end.

Grapes are harvested at night to maintain fresh and bright acidity. The fruit goes straight to the press, where the juice sits for 24 hours. Then it is racked and separated from its gross lees and fermented clean at a low temperature in stainless steel tanks, ensuring multilayers of aromas and flavours.

This is the only white wine produce by the winery — the only white varietal we ever would choose to approach. We style our Sauvignon Blanc after some of the great white Bordeaux
wines from the Pessac Leognan region, offering a flavor profile of pink grapefruit, stone fruits and bright minerality.
The wine produce elements of honeydew melon, white peach, and nectarine, with underlying notes of fresh citrus bloom nuances. A weighty mouthfeel ushers in notes of pink grapefruit, Meyer lemon zest with bright acidity, minerality and tropical elements through to a long finish.
Aged for 7 months in 50% Concrete Egg Ferm, 10% New Burgundian Oak, 30% Neutral French Oak, 10% Stainless Barrell.

This wine has wonderful complexity on the nose with aromas of flowers, ripe melon and guava and generous barrel ferment character. It is a full-bodied Chardonnay with citrus fruits on the palate, some lanolin and well-integrated oak.
Whole bunch pressing, barrel fermentation and regular lees stirring over 11 months in French oak add to the complexity of this full-bodied Chardonnay
Waipara West Sauvignon Blanc 2021
Smelling this wine, you are instantly saturated with lofty aromas of passionfruit sherbet and sweet florals. Asian herbs like lemongrass and Thai basil add a savoury backdrop. Dry river bed and salt crust provide further earthy complexity. Full and juicy in the mouth ripe tropical fruit like richness flows through to a textured and cleansing granny smith finish with a stain like persistence.

In the nose have notes of fine and aromatics herbs, flowers and fruits like apricot and plum. It’s fresh, complex and very mineral. It has very elegant oak notes.
The palate is balanced in terms of maturity, warmth with very present and long acidity. This is a very fresh white wine, with good tannin structure, fine and lively. Good volume and long.

Fresh and fruity when young, gaining more complexity after 5-10 years. Potential of 15-20 years. Drink as an aperitif with marinated sardines. Perfect with fish, veal or poultry in sauce, as well as more spicy dishes. Excellent match with cured cheeses. Decant a few hours and serve at 14°C. If served too cold, the wine will not develop its full aroma.
