Vilmart & Cie Emotion 2015

$205.00
The color of this wine is orange pink. The calm and regular effervescence gives birth to a sustained and delicate cord whose bubble is very fine. On the nose, this wine is powerful, fruity, developing aromas of strawberry, raspberry, sour cherry and floral notes of peony with a vanilla finish. This bouquet of fruit is supported by slight notes of almond, cinnamon, honey and wood. Length, complexity and balance define a mouth in harmony with the nose. We note a beautiful purity, an excellent finesse on the palate with a creamy texture that allows us to discover an elegant wine with and beautiful vinosity. In the mouth, very refreshing, reminiscent of pomelos on the finish.

Wine and food pairing

This cuvee is appreciated with refined dishes, such as salmon in strawberry foil or fried langoustines. It can also be served with a fillet of red mullet, or even a rib of lamb marinated with vegetables. Finally, for sushi lovers, this champagne is the perfect match.

Cocchi Americano Rosa

$62.90
COCCHI ROSA
Cocchi Americano is an aromatized wine created in 1891 by Giulio Cocchi and since then produced without interruption according to the original recipe. The name “Americano” is both due to the alcohol made bitter (“amaricato”) by the addition of herbs and spices and to the American habit of drinking vermouth with ice and soda. Produced according to Giulio Cocchi original recipe, Cocchi Americano is recognized in Asti as the aperitif par excellence – a real piece of history of our town. On its label the original futurist rooster designed in the 30’s and representing his aperitif function (“it awakes the appetite”) as well as one of the symbols of the town of Asti. During its history, Cocchi has produced some variants to its Aperitivo Americano. The most recent is Cocchi Rosa produced with a base of red wines of Piedmont to which herbs and spices extracts are added, in particular gentian, cinchona, citrus zests and rose petals. botanical-library-cocchi-rosa-new
CHARACTERISTICS
Cocchi Rosa name reminds us that it’s produced with red wines, from which it derives its colour and wild rose notes. Refined with natural extracts of flowers and spices, in particular gentian, cinchona and citrus as per the Americano Bianco but with the addition of saffron, vanilla and rose petals. Its beautiful red colour is completely natural and derives from the wine.
HOW TO DRINK IT
The classic version foresees a cocktail glass with ice cubes, a spray of soda and a zest of rose grapefruit. Soda can be pleasantly replaced with ginger beer, lemon soda and tonic water. In its spritz version, Cocchi Rosa is mixed with Brachetto wine and a zest of rose grapefruit or lemon. Garnish it with rosemary. The combination with spirits such as gin, vodka and mescal is particularly positive. Cocchi Rosa is a perfect ingredient for the new trend of “low octane” cocktails, with a low alcohol content.

Cockburn’s 2015 Late Bottle Vintage

$65.00
Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Ports are wines of a single very good year that age in large oak vats between four and six years, until they reach an ideal level of maturity. LBVs are then bottled, ready to be enjoyed without the need for decanting as the natural sediment is left behind in the vat. They are rich, full-bodied wines with a smooth texture, mellowed over time by the wood ageing. This Late Bottled Vintage Port is sourced from the same vineyards that produce Cockburn’s famed Vintage Ports, namely the company’s own Quinta dos Canais and Quinta do Vale Coelho properties, both located in the remote Douro Superior subregion. Deep crimson centre with an intense garnet rim. The very high quality of both the Touriga Franca and the Touriga Nacional in 2015 sings through the attractive floral aromas, where a rock rose fragrance is particularly evident. The wine is simultaneously full and smooth on the palate, with typical red fruit flavours ranging from raspberry and strawberry to red cherry. There is a fine, peppery spice element on the finish, which shows Cockburn’s trademark grip. This wine is fully mature and ready for pouring as it has been bottled free of sediment. Late Bottled Vintages, as the term implies, are bottled later than classic Vintage Ports (the latter after two years). Cockburn’s Late Bottled Vintage can be enjoyed anytime and pairs wonderfully with dark chocolate desserts as well as semi-cured and cured cheeses like Cheddar and Manchego. In warm weather, try serving the wine lightly chilled, this will enhance the aromas and flavours. Once open, the wine will keep in good condition for several weeks.

Overture By Opus One (2018 Release)

$250.00
In the tradition of many great Bordeaux estates, Opus One produces a fine second wine called Overture. Like the introduction of a great musical piece, Overture, the wine, presents elements of the exceptional work itself, although certainly not in its entirety or full complexity. Since 1993, we have created Overture as a result of our highly selective process for Opus One. We meticulously cultivate each section of our estate vineyard with the attention to detail and singular focus required to produce Opus One. This diligence carries through the extensive blending process, and not all wine-lots from our estate are chosen for the final Opus One blend. Yet, when these remaining lots are afforded additional time in French oak barrels, coupled with the added flexibility of blending across multiple vintages, the final wine, Overture, achieves remarkable elegance, complexity and approachability. As a natural extension of the creation of Opus One, Overture’s varietal composition evolves based on the lot selections made for each vintage. Overture reflects the proportion of Bordeaux-heritage grape varieties planted on our estate: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. Uniquely, Overture captures the essence of our estate across vintages; therefore the exact blend and cellar approach will always differ from Opus One.
