Ferdinandās Saar Dry Gin
An award-winning range of products from the 200 year old Avadis Distillery, infused with Riesling from the 275 year old Zilliken winery; Ferdinandās owes its name to the Prussian District Forester, Ferdinand Geltz, who also co-founded the VDP Mosel Saar Ruwer Zilliken estate, one of Germanyās finest vineyards.
Carefully hand-picked Riesling grapes from the steep shale slopes of the Zilliken estate on the grand Saarburger Rausch site make our gin a unique taste experience.
Pot still production in small batches. The raw distillate produced from their own grain is distilled several times to form the basis for a selection of 34 hand-picked herbs, spices and fruits, which are carefully macerated to produce an eau-de-vie. The addtional use of a steam infusion of freshly harvested herbs adds unique fresh floral notes to their gin, which is rounded off with a precise measure of Schiefer Riesling. Having been left to rest for a period of 4 weeks in stoneware, Ferdinandās Saar Dry Gin is set to a drinking strength of 44% abv using deminerlised water, then finally bottled.
- Ingredients: 34 regional botanicals (thyme, sloe, rose hip), pot still distilled, proprietary grain spirit made from a blend of wheat, rye and spelt, Riesling wine infused.
- Tasting Note: Aromas of pine and juniper, pungent lavender, lemongrass, lemon meringue, vanilla and coriander
Ferdinandās Saar Quince
Master Distiller Andreas Vallendar combines carefully hand-picked Riesling grapes from the Zilliken estate and over 30 delicately balanced botanicals from the vineyards and our own cultivation.
Our Saar Quince is infused with 2011er Rausch Kabinett, which in 2013 was awarded 92 points by Gault Millau and was distinguished as the best cabinet wine of the year. The Royal Prussian District Forester Ferdinand Geltz not only gave his name to this Riesling-infused Saar Dry Gin but he was also the historical co-founder of the VDP Mosel-Saar-Ruwer growers' group.
This golden Quince from the Saar symbolises the perfect balance between sweet, sour and bitter.
Gonzalez Byass Tres Palmas
Biological ageing taken to its limit. A Fino Amontillado between life and death. 10 years ageing on contact with āthe florā endow it with a unique character. Just one barrel No. 33, was selected for this release from the 149 barrels that make up this historic La Constancia solera.
This year TĆo Pepe reached its most refined maturity in just one barrel No. 33. 10 years of biological ageing have produced the most elegant oxidation. A Fino Amontillado that expresses the Jerezano quality of a great wine like none other.
Gonzalez Byass Dos Palmas
This sublime Fino is aged for a very long time, developing flavours that reflect a perfect balance between the soil and the veil of flor. For this release of Dos Palmas, we selected numbers 87 and 76 of the 148 barrels that make up this solera, on the second floor of the Gran Bodega TĆo Pepe.
A deep golden colour with amber glints and delicate tears. Complex on the nose, with prominent aromas of flor. Sharp and piquant with nutty aromas, it displays a great balance between the albariza soil and an old fino aged in the winery. These two barrels reveal the splendour of the flor. The barrels selected this year were numbers 87 and 76.

Starward Coffee Old Fashioned Cocktail
Coffee Old Fashioned is our take on a classic cocktail recipe, with a typically Melburnian caffeinated kick. We start with our award-winning whisky, aged in Melbourneās variable weather in red wine barrels from world-class local wineries. Together with Mr Blackās delicious cold brew coffee liqueur and our distillery made orange bitters, we intended our rich, fruity whisky to shine in a cocktail. Taste this, and we rest our case.
Pour over ice with a twist of orange peel to garnish. Best served with chocolatey dessert or tiramisu. One word of warning though. Bring this to a party, and it might just steal the limelight.
Nose: Intense coffee, vanilla with a hint of orange peel.
Palate: Coffee forward followed by dark chocolate and cacao.
Finish: Textural and rounding. Vanilla and light roasted coffee bean.
Cocchi Barolo Chinato
BAROLO CHINATO
Born in Piedmont in the last century, it soon spread thanks to its taste, well balanced between bitter and sweet, and especially for the leading effect on the market of its name āBaroloā, that immediately positioned it among the noblest products compared to various other types of alcoholic drinks based on cinchona.
Inventor of this original recipe, Giulio Cocchi was also the protagonist of the diffusion of Barolo Chinato.
In Italy its consumption was encouraged by the fame it gained as therapeutic wine. A traditional remedy in Piedmont to cure many small sicknesses, especially in case of cooling. Drunk as a vin brulĆ©, hot and invigorating, its antipyretic and digestive capacities were widely recognized. Serving it to the guests became a typical tradition of the farmersā hospitality.
Over time, the use of this aromatized wine changed and today, in the general wake to recover traditions and naturality, itās been rediscovered with new and interesting consumption styles.
CHARACTERISTICS
Barolo Chinato is a special wine produced with Barolo DOCG, aromatized with cinchona calisaya bark, rhubarb and gentian root and the precious cardamom seed whose active principles are extracted with a slow maceration at room temperature.
Characterized by balance and harmony in the perfume with an immediate pleasant taste and a pleasant aromatic persistence.
HOW TO DRINK IT
The occasions to appreciate Cocchi Barolo Chinato are diverse, with a particular success in the good restoration when served at environment temperature or as elegant end of the meal or even steam heated with orange zest. Almost a surprise then the recent discovery of Barolo Chinato as an āideal liquidā to support and complete the persistent taste of the mostly cocoa rich chocolates.
Andrea Slitti, among the best maƮtres chocolatiers, has produced an artisanal praline with Barolo Chinato. A top-of the-range product distributed by Giulio Cocchi to accompany the tasting and to show the successful marriage.

Ferdinandās White Vermouth
The worldās first vintage vermouth with riesling of a great VDP-site.
The large steep south-facing slope of the Saarburger Rausch, its rough Devonian shale soil and the cool climate of the Saar form the perfect basis for the first Riesling Vermouth in the world. The minerality and fruitiness of the Saar Riesling, the bitterness of the wormwood and the floral, spicy aromas of the regional herbs and flowers give this batch produced Vermouth wine from the Saar valley its unique lightness and elegance.
Ferdinandās White Riesling Vermouth is carefully aged in Mosel Fuder casks, neutral German 1000 litres oak barrels, which ensures the perfect balance between the acidity and fruitiness of the Riesling and the vineyardās botanicals. Besides homegrown wormwood, lovage and vineyard onion we use the botanicals which form the essential part of Ferdinandās Saar Dry Gin, to retain the distinctive character of the beautiful Saar region. Grand Cru Riesling wine is infused with cold macerated botanicals, sweetened by the residual sugar of the wine and rectified concentrated grapes.
