Cornas, a Rhone Valley Cru, spans 155 hectares of vines on steep east and southeast-facing slopes, located in the Ardèche département, 7km from Valence. It’s bordered by Saint Joseph to the north and St Peray to the south. The Mediterranean-influenced climate and natural amphitheater protect the vines from cold winds.
Soil: From our domaine – 1.20-hectare plot in lieu-dit “En Sauman” Vineyard planted on multiple small steep terraces of weathered granite.
Vinification and ageing:
Grapes are hand-picked in small cases of 20 kg. 100% Wholebunch fermentation. Wholebunch vatting for 5 to 7 days until a semi-carbonic fermentation begins to start the foot stomping. Aged 12 months on fine lees in demi-muids (500L oak barrels).
