Ferdinand’s Saar Dry Gin Jeroboam 3000 ML
$560.00 Original price was: $560.00.$409.00Current price is: $409.00.
An award winning range of products from the 200 year old Avadis Distillery, infused with Riesling from the 275 year old Zilliken winery; Ferdinand’s owes its name to the Prussian District Forester, Ferdinand Geltz, who also co-founded the VDP Mosel Saar Ruwer Zilliken estate, one of Germany’s finest vineyards.
Carefully hand-picked Riesling grapes from the steep shale slopes of the Zilliken estate on the grand Saarburger Rausch site make our gin a unique taste experience.
Pot still production in small batches. The raw distillate produced from their own grain is distilled several times to form the basis for a selection of 34 hand-picked herbs, spices and fruits, which are carefully macerated to produce an eau-de-vie. The additional use of a steam infusion of freshly harvested herbs adds unique fresh floral notes to their gin, which is rounded off with a precise measure of Schiefer Riesling. Having been left to rest for a period of 4 weeks in stoneware, Ferdinand’s Saar Dry Gin is set to a drinking strength of 44% abv using demineralized water, then finally bottled.
Ingredients: 34 regional botanicals (thyme, sloe, rose hip), pot still distilled, proprietary grain spirit made from a blend of wheat, rye and spelt, Riesling wine infused.
Tasting Note: Aromas of pine and juniper, pungent lavender, lemongrass, lemon meringue, vanilla, and coriander

Just as the tri-border region of Western Germany combines geographically and culturally to create its own unique character, so, two brothers Denis Reinhardt and Erik Wimmers started a collaboration on the banks of the River Saar with their friends Andreas Vallendar of the 200 Years old Avadis Distillery, and Dorothee Zilliken of the 300 years old Zilliken Estate winery. The Ferdinand’s Gin story began among the ancient vines in 2013.
Named after the first local Royal Prussian District Forester Forester, Ferdinand Geltz, the Ferdinand’s brand takes its inspiration from the bountiful terroir of the Saar region. A timeless design and exquisite attention to detail in the crafting of the liquid, build upon a historical legacy of fine wines from world‘s most famous Riesling wine region.
Ferdinand’s is a true labour of love from the verdant valleys and vineyards of the Saar area in Western Germany. It’s unique process and botanical profile give it a quality and personality which set it apart from all other premium gins.
Ferdinand’s is craft distilled and hand bottled at the 5th generation Avadis Distillery in the beautiful Saar-mosel region of Western Germany. At its heart is a blend of locally grown and hand-picked vineyard botanicals and herbs. It is given a final, fruity flourish with the infusion of the finest Riesling wines from the nearby Zilliken Estate – Germany’s best wine makers 2016. Together with Egon müller and JJ Prüm estate, The Zillikens are one of the Top 3 Riesling estates worldwide, wine enthusiasts are the Top target group.

- A mouth-watering combination of juicy fruits, passionfruit, bright acidity and herbal lift. Pure Marlborough.
- It was a warm and dry season in Marlborough with low yields as a result of unsettled weather around flowering in spring coupled with very dry weather after Christmas. There are advantages to such a season – low disease pressure and excellent fruit intensity among them.
- This wine is made to preserve and highlight its fresh fruit flavours and refreshing acidity. The fruit is pressed to a temperature-controlled stainless-steel tank and the juice is vinified at low temperatures over a long fermentation. It is bottled within months of harvest and is best enjoyed when youthful and fresh.
- This wine is from select vineyards in Marlborough, where warm daytime temperatures, high sunshine hours, low rainfall and cool nights encourage the development of the intense aromas and flavours that are the hallmark of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The wine region is centred on two river valleys in the north east of New Zealand’s South Island – the Wairau River and the Awatere River valleys. Soils are alluvial and free draining silty shingles intermingled with stones and rocks. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is an internationally recognised wine style and accounts for about two thirds of the total vineyard in New Zealand, more than 70% of the country’s wine production and about 85% of its wine exports.
