Amiral De Beychevelle 2020

$99.00
The vintage A mild winter preceded a hot and humid spring, encouraging early vine budding. The hot and dry conditions recorded from mid-June were offset by salvaging rainy spells in mid-August, ensuring the berriesā€™ proper ripening. The alternation of sunny days and cool nights in September was ideal for achieving optimal maturity. The winemaking and ageing The manually harvested grapes undergo a bespoke winemaking process in the estateā€™s plot-based fermenting room. Ageing is carried out in barrels (of which 40% are new). Blend The 2020 Amiral de Beychevelle is made from a blend ofĀ Cabernet SauvignonĀ (54%),Ā Merlot (42%),Ā Petit VerdotĀ (4%) andĀ Cabernet Franc (1%). Tasting Notes Nose: The expressive nose seduces with its floral fragrances, wherein notes of violet dominate. Palate: The beautifully fresh palate seduces with its powerful and silky tannins as well as its union of fruity (red fruits) and spicy aromas.

Opus One 2017

$655.00
Opus One was founded by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, legendary proprietor of ChĆ¢teau Mouton Rothschild, and renowned Napa Valley vintner Robert Mondavi. By combining the great winemaking traditions and innovations of both families, the foundersā€™ singular goal was to create an exceptional wine in the heart of Napa Valley. Opus One, like any great work, arose out of passion. Dedicated to uncompromised quality, Opus Oneā€™s sole purpose is to express this vision and passionate spirit for generations to come. VINTAGE 2o17 The winter of 2017 ended a five-year drought with January recording the most rainfall in over 20 years. The abundant rainfall continued into March, causing a modest delay in budbreak, and pushing bloom back by two weeks. Increased soil moisture allowed for healthy vine growth and development. The summer, in turn, was warm and punctuated by occasional heat waves. Despite Mother Natureā€™s variability, favorable weather in August provided optimal conditions for fruit development and maturation. Superb flavors and excellent ripening led to an earlier than expected harvest, which commenced on the 5th of September. The Opus One 2017 offers a harmonious aromatic balance of rich dark fruit, stems of roses, and earthy forest floor. The juicy entry offers a round, silky mouthfeel with just enough acidity to complement the satin texture. This seductive wine shows flavors of black cassis, black cherry and a hint of cocoa powder. The fine-grained, plush tannins evolve into a long, supple finish. A supremely age-worthy wine, it will delight now and for many years to come. VARIETALS Cabernet Sauvignon 80%, Petit Verdot 9%, Cabernet Franc 5%, Merlot 5%, and Malbec 1% SKIN CONTACT 20 days BARREL AGING 17 months in new French oak

Richard G Peterson Pinot Noir 2019

$139.00
As history and legend purport, the Wrotham clone was discovered near Wrotham Village in southeast England; the cuttings were introduced there by the Romans some 2,000 years ago. The Wrotham clone produces a uniquely rich colour and a spicy character not often found in other Pinot Noir wines. In 1980, Dick Peterson brought the first and only Wrotham cuttings back to California and planted them in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA just south of Monterey Bay. This region boasts a cool climate and one of the longest growing seasons in California. Dick Peterson has been an innovator in the California wine industry since the 1960s. As a young man, he produced novel products such as the first wine cooler for Seagrams and Galloā€™s Hearty Burgundy. He was pivotal to the success of a portfolio of wineries, including Beaulieu Vineyards with Andre Tchelistcheff, the Monterey Vineyard, Atlas Peak Vineyards and Folie Ć  Deux Winery. Aged 14 months in burgundy oak barrels.
