La Cueva Del Contador 2016
La Cueva del Contador 2016 grapes were selected from 35-55 years old vineyards, where a yield around a kilo of grapes per vine is produced to get the fruit and tannin concentration wished.
La Cueva del Contador 2016 is bright and dense red-violet in colour. The nose is deep and wraparound. Highlight the red and black compote fruit with spicy, mineral and balsamic notes, also a touch of toasted. The wood is fine, present and it has to be integrated. In the mouth it is powerful and well balanced in terms of maturity and freshness. Final is long and fresh. It is elegant.

Dark in colour, the wine shows a charming nose of perfectly ripe red fruit and spices. The palate is rich and well-rounded with beautiful velvety-textured tannins that coat the palate. A wine that combines immediate pleasure and great ageing capacity.

The Primus vineyards are located on the third alluvial terrace of the Alto Maipo, at the foot of the Andes Mountains. The grapes are hand-picked, double sorted, fermented in open top tanks with native yeasts, and left on the skins after fermentation to gain structure and depth. Château Pontet-Canet is one of the largest producers in Pauillac, Bordeaux. Production is around 20,000 cases of their grand vin and 20,000 of their second label per annum. It is a classified Fifth Growth, but many argue that it is boasting at least Second Growth wines. There’s a saying “you are the company you keep” and Pontet-Canet is a close neighbor to Château Mouton-Rothschild. The vineyard practices are biodynamic, even down to the use of horses in lieu of tractors. The Château was the first major Bordeaux wine producer to earn its ‘AB’, the organic certification for France. Grapes are hand picked, and soils are typical of Medoc – well drained, warm and spare.

Aromatic to the nose with notes of buttery-vanillin oak flavours and exotic fruit (orange rind and honeyed grapefruit). On the palate, the wine is round, fleshy with wonderful minerality and again, delightful exotic fruit flavours. The new-oak flavours are present. Very nice balance between the oak, fruit and acidity. Excellent finish.
100% Sauvignon Blanc. Harvest is done 100% by hand. Following a skin-contact maceration, 75% of the juice is fermented in vats and 25% in oak-barrels.
