Condrieu, a Rhone Valley Cru, covers 209 hectares of vines in 7 towns: Condrieu, St Michel sur Rhône, Vérin, Chavanay, Saint Pierre de Boeuf, Malleval, and Limony, spanning the Rhône, Loire, and Ardèche départements. The climate is continental with a Mediterranean influence, leading to high summer temperatures that heat the rocky soils.
Soil: From our domaine – Steep granite terrace of 1 hectare plot in lieu-dit ‘Le Tinal’ in Vérin. Vineyard faces east, the altitude of 300m above sea level and exposure give it a fresh and floral character.
Vinification and ageing:
Manual harvest using only small baskets less than 20kg. The wine ages in one or two vintages fine grain old barrels (20%) and in stainless steel tanks. Light batonnage (once a month until February the year after harvest). Malolactic fermentation begins naturally in the fall or spring.
The wines are aged on fine lees for 10 to 12 months.
