The grand cru classified white Malartic-Lagravière 2019
It is on one of the oldest gravel ridges in the Bordeaux region that the Château Malartic-Lagravière vineyard grows. But it is also the climatology, the vinification and the blending which bring the unique character of each vintage of the grand cru classified in white appellation Pessac-Léognan.
The wines of Château Malartic-Lagravière inherit the authentic character of the terroir and the demanding signature of the Bonnie family.
EXTREME CLIMATOLOGY FOR A 2019 WHITE GRAND CRU
The year 2019 is marked by extreme climatology. Spring was wet with a nice window of good weather for the vines to flower at the end of May. Two heatwave episodes marked the month of July, but with beneficial rains to avoid excessive water stress. The late season is superb, favoring the tannic maturity of the Cabernets.
The harvest is carried out during the first half of September in order to preserve all the uniqueness of our vineyard.
The Grand Cru Classé en Blanc reveals all the power and quality of the terroir with a vintage that combines freshness and balance.
BLENDING AND VINIFICATION OF THE 2019 VINTAGE
To obtain a high quality wine, composition is an important step. The 2019 vintage of Château Malartic-Lagravière appellation Pessac-Léognan consists of:
- 76.1% Sauvignon;
- 23.9% Sémillon.
We carried out slow and completely inerted pressing with fermentation in barrels. To perfect this grand cru classified in white appellation Pessac-Léognan, aging lasted 14 months in French oak barrels.
