Lively aromas of blackberry, blueberry and dried cherry intertwine with vanilla and cedar notes. A smooth silky texture with fine tannins and balance, providing a beautiful and lingering finish. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Primus vineyards are located on the third alluvial terrace of the Alto Maipo, at the foot of the Andes Mountains. The grapes are hand-picked, double sorted, fermented in open top tanks with native yeasts, and left on the skins after fermentation to gain structure and depth. The best lots of the vintage are selected, blended and aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
“Red and black currants, raspberries, orange zest, tobacco, cocoa and dried herbs on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins and bright acidity. Crisp and vibrant fruit character, with a zesty, firm finish. Vegan. Sustainable. Drink or hold.” – 91 points, James Suckling
“A finely chiseled red, with elegance and depth, showing forest floor, lavender and balsam notes around a lively mouthful of mineral-laced red currant and plum. Ends with well-formed tannins and peppercorn details. Drink now through 2032. 7,000 cases made, 2,900 cases imported.” – 90 points, Wine Spectator
Primus seeks to create a wineās finest expression by using only the most outstanding grapes from our vineyards. Each of our renowned appellations have a distinct signature that allows us to produce wines of excellence.
Primus comes from handpicked grapes in organically farmed vineyards. Fermentation takes place exclusively in open tanks with native yeasts, maximizing each varietyās potential. This is complemented by aging in different containers ā foudres and French oak barrels ā which complete the wineās evolution and transform our valleysā best fruit into expressive wines with great elegance, balance and freshness. A perfect accompaniment to an array of gastronomic styles.
Our vineyards are located in renowned areas of Apalta, Colchagua Valley and Maipo Valley. We adhere to organic practices in all of our estates, which gives way to healthy soils, pure fruit and expressive wines.
The Apalta vineyards are located on old alluvial riverbeds of the Tinguiririca. It is a privileged location protected by nature, where the Andes and Coastal mountain ranges meet to form an impressive half-moon of mountains. A vineyard with history, whose pre-phylloxera vines from imported French roots continue to produce high-quality fruit year after year. The hundred-year-old vines have a deep root system, which requires minimal intervention. Both the volcanic granitic soils from the mountains and the silty soils from the river allow for natural drainage. These conditions, along with a semi-arid Mediterranean climate, result in mature grapes that produce balanced, elegant wines.
The Maipo Valley lies at the base of the Andes Mountains, south of Santiago where one of Chileās most important rivers begins, hence the appellationās name. Throughout history, the Maipo River has had three major floods, which formed three alluvial terraces similar to those of Bordeaux. The Primus vineyards are located on the third terrace, with alluvial soils, excellent drainage and moderate fertility. Though Cabernet Sauvignon is a very vigorous variety, these soil conditions restrain its growth. The rocky soils in contact with the roots also provide a certain minerality to the wine, expressing the Andes Mountains in each glass. These conditions allow for lengthy wines that are elegant and balanced with great concentration and smooth tannins.

Our fruit was harvested by hand at the end of February then whole-bunch pressed and settled in tank before transfer to tank and barrel for fermentation. The wine underwent a partial malolactic fermentation and was aged for 10 months ā part in stainless steel tank to retain fresh fruit flavours, part in barrel for added complexity. We used a mix of old and new French oak barrels.
Crisp & Refreshing, White, Medium-bodied wine. Great with river trout, Asian style dishes, roast chicken.
Mornington Peninsula, Australia
Opening with stone fruit and floral aromas with bright citrus notes, this wine has layers of fruit flavour and creamy complexity derived from 11 months aging on lees in barrel.
Vintage 2016 was marked by warm and dry conditions and the Mornington Peninsula harvest was one of the earliest on record. It arrived in a hurry too and many vignerons were being picked in early February. The resulting wines have excellent flavour and weight and tend to be earlier drinking styles.
BenMarco Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Los Arboles, a terroir with very stony soil from the surface with intermixed layers of loose, high-draining sand.
It is an outstanding wine with lingering flavours of currant, cassis and plum combined with a hint of spice and juicy acidity. Good structure, firm tannins and a persistent finish.
BenMarco Cabernet Sauvignon is perfect with red meat, pasta with mushroom-based sauce or Bolognese.
"Blackcurrant, blackberry, bark and iodine on the nose. Itās medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Juicy and creamy. Drink now." - James Suckling

Ruby red with purple reflections, Le Volte dell' Ornellaia 2020 has a vinous bouquet, releasing a complexity of aromas ranging from ripe red fruits, to Mediterranean scrub, up to delicate notes of tobacco and spices. The mouthfeel is soft and silky, but at the same time supported by a lively acidity that gives us a crisp, persistent finish.
"A blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Ornellaia 2020 Le Volte dell'Ornellaia shows medium darkness and texture followed by a very primary and fruit-forward bouquet. There is a generous display of cherry, cassis and wild plum. On second nose, this easy and straightforward Tuscan blend reveals hints of spice, cardamon and polished river stone. In a hot vintage like this, the wine comes together nicely and rather effortlessly." - 90 points, Robert Parker
