Following a conversation in one of the world’s best bars, centered on flavors and fundamental characteristics of the ultimate Martini cocktail, the Cocchi team delved into the founder’s recipe book and embarked on a research journey, closely supported by Erik Lorincz, Max Schulte, Elon Soddu and Declan McGurk. The unique design of the label recalls the style of the age when this grappa was first produced while suggesting its powerful character and sophisticated balance. Today named as a “single vineyard” grappa, it is an absolutely pure spirit, the true expression of the Moscato aroma with an extremely appealing length of flavor. CHARACTERISTICS Pomace from the best Moscato d’Asti grapes is collected into bags, then after fermentation it is distilled in copper pot stills. A reserve grappa, aged minimum three years in Piedmont-style oak barrels. Grappa Dorée show a bright golden color, as its name suggests; definitely intense aroma, delicate and powerful at the same time; a true expression of its original aromatic style; taste is soft, elegant, warming and consistent with the bouquet; the alcohol content is counterweighted with harmony and balance. An award winning range of products from the 200 year old Avadis Distillery, infused with Riesling from the 275 year old Zilliken winery; Ferdinand’s owes its name to the Prussian District Forester, Ferdinand Geltz, who also co-founded the VDP Mosel Saar Ruwer Zilliken estate, one of Germany’s finest vineyards. Carefully hand-picked Riesling grapes from the steep shale slopes of the Zilliken estate on the grand Saarburger Rausch site make our gin a unique taste experience. Pot still production in small batches. The raw distillate produced from their own grain is distilled several times to form the basis for a selection of 34 hand-picked herbs, spices and fruits, which are carefully macerated to produce an eau-de-vie. The additional use of a steam infusion of freshly harvested herbs adds unique fresh floral notes to their gin, which is rounded off with a precise measure of Schiefer Riesling. Having been left to rest for a period of 4 weeks in stoneware, Ferdinand’s Saar Dry Gin is set to a drinking strength of 44% abv using demineralized water, then finally bottled.
