These gnarly strugglers were planted in 1946 in a deep sandy dune we call The Beach, overlying the North Maslin Sands geological formation. The Old Vine Grenache is a complex, perfumed and elegant wine with a trademark tannin structure. Sourced exclusively from the 17 hectares of un-irrigated bush vines planted in 1946. Hand-picked, selectively sorted in the winery. 50% whole berries retained. Wild yeast. A very gentle pump over regime during fermentation, often just wetting the cap. Time on skins during maceration varies, the majority is approximately 21 days, with a few extended to 140 days. No pressings used. The solera comprises 139 barrels that undergo biological ageing for more than 6 years. Three have been selected for this release, numbers 84, 11 and 90, from the second floor of the Gran Bodega Tío Pepe. The three barrels were selected for their special finesse and delicate nature and because they are a faithful reflection of how Tío Pepe evolves. Barrel 84, 11 and 90 display aromas of breadmaking, almonds, talcum powder and the veil of Flor. The wine is elegant, very dry, richly flavoured, salty and slightly bitter on the palate.

Luce Lucente 2019

A cold and sunny winter was followed by a spring characterized by low average temperatures and heavy precipitation, which contributed to the creation of important water reserves in the soil. The reduced sunlight coupled with the heavy rainfall resulted in a slight delay in the vegetative cycle of the grapevine. Flowering took place between the end of May and early June, after which the growing season continued regularly with a hot summer free of excessive temperatures and some rainfall occurring between late July and early August. The mild temperatures in September and the good water reserves supported a slow and regular ripening of the grapes. Lucente 2019 is an intense purplish red wine. The nose is characterized by notes of ripe red fruit, raspberries and sour cherries, combined with a touch of vanilla and a slight balsamic hint. On the palate, the wine is soft, balanced and well-supported by a pleasant crispness and smooth tannins, characteristics that together with its sweet aftertaste give the wine a persistent finish. Food Pairing: Beef, Lamb, Veal, Poultry, Cured Meat "Lots of blue fruit, graphite and stone aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied with tight and linear tannins and a fresh, vivid finish. Dassai Junmai Daiginjo 39

Showing a luscious and juicy character with a nectar-like sweetness on the palate, followed by a long bright finale. Produced by the Asahi Shuzo brewery, Dassai 39 is a premium sake of the Junmai Daiginjo type, which means that the rice used has been polished to more than 50% and no alcohol has been added. As the name suggests, this premium sake has a residual rice grain content of 39% so that only the noblest part of the rice remains, the heart. The finesse of its aromas is a perfect accompaniment to shellfish, fish in sauce and grilled or steamed vegetables. Sake or Nihonshu is a Japanese alcoholic beverage with a 14% to 17% volume content, made from a mixture of water, yeast and steamed rice, a small part of which has been previously sown with a microscopic fungus, the koji, to allow better fermentation. This, is Junmai-Daiginjo.
