Samaroli 1997 Caroni Rum (2023)

$2,200.00

Single Origin Rum from Trinidad & Tobago. Single Cask. Bottled in Scotland in 2023.

We did it. This one is to celebrate our baroque feast, our community which never closed up into itself, the team always playing forward. Our orchestra which is always open to new talent has identified a new great soloist. It reaches us from 1997 and it is a Caroni rum – one of the last. You all know the story of course. Or, you will have heard of it: the madness of a government dismantling its own distillery, the lost barrels found full of a rum like very few others in the world, able to speak to a niche of chosen few. We say: we prefer legends when they become concrete reality. And therefore, in our Caroni we detect a powerful and slightly disquieting opening of hydrocarbons, but immediately after a more delicate dose of rubber and black fruit. Then coffee, forest wood and a good length of black pepper. A lively mouth, one much more alive than what the nose had given prelude to. There is milk chocolate, coconut, dates, menthol.

Composition: Cask #77. Single cask of Trinidad rum 1997 from Caroni closed distillery – cask n 77 Barrel – American oak ex bourbon cask – Column Still / Molasses – Trinidad ageing 13 years

About brand
Founded in 1968 in Rome, Italy, Samaroli was an importer for the first decade of its existence. During the 1980s Samaroli began to source more individual releases of whisky directly from Cadenhead's and as the years went by most of the bottlings were at cask strength. Silvan Samaroli ran his independent bottling business for decades before being taken over by Antonio Bleve in 2008, however, Silvan maintained an active role in the company up until his death in February 2017. Today, Samaroli bottlings are still hugely sought after by whisky enthusiasts worldwide. “Whether you’re a beginner or an aficionado, having a bottle of Samaroli in your hand will almost certainly open your senses, mind and spirit.” Samaroli is one of the earliest independent bottlers and the most famous and influential Italian importers of their time.

Samaroli Jamaica Rhapsody Blended Rum (2023)

$220.00
Blended Rum from Single Origin Jamaica. Bottled in Scotland in 2023. Why is a Sicilian icon to be found along the banks of the river Don? Simple: persecuted Orthodox Christians escaped east from southern Italy and took what was most sacred with them. Spirituality is constituent to humans and makes us capable of everything. We dare to blend different barrels with the same devotion and perseverance in order to create our rhapsody of Jamaica rum. The assembly emanates from a range of Jamaican barrels like jewels encrusting ancient crowns. Life springs forth as a rum endowed with rhythm, music and happiness. The pungent effervescent tones surprise and conquest us as they almost fizz on our palate. Mediterranean to the core, astounding. Rich in innuendos which do not betray what the nose has promised. Solvent, fruit, balsamic minty notes alternating in a complex beat. Dedicated to those persecuted because of their ideas, and those forced to leave everything for a life worthy of being lived. Such heroes belong to any age, including this one. Blend Composition: 2 casks of Jamaica rum 2015 from a Restricted distillery - cask n 3-4 Barrel – Ex bourbon – Pot still / Molasses – Tropical ageing 4 years – JMWP 1 cask of Jamaica rum 2009 from a Restricted distillery - cask n 16 Barrel – Ex bourbon - Pot still / Molasses – Tropical ageing 3 years – SFJWP Bottles Produced: 1224

Samaroli 2007 Australia Rum (2023)

$450.00
Single Origin Rum. Single Cask. Bottled in Scotland in 2023. Hic sunt leones. Terrae incognitae. There was a time when tabulae, maps, charts and planispheres reported the unknown which surrounded the little geography we did know. This gave us the awareness of non plus ultra, those boundaries one could not trespass upon. But it also encouraged us to go beyond, to try to comprehend, to explore. Here, too, faced with this rum, which from Australia seems to want to return towards common (though unknown) origins, we rediscover the sensation of once again travelling beyond certain horizons that some of the Scottish ancestors crossed before us, leaving behind the legacy of stories about what they found. And here we have a nose with specks of dust and tropical fruit worthy of any adventurous character. And a mouth with innuendos of tobacco, chocolate and almond. Yes, we know we have just conjured up Indiana Jones in your mind. Composition: Single cask of Australia rum 2007 from a Restricted distillery - cask n 20 Barrel – American oak - Pot Still / Molasses – Australian ageing 10 years – MAIC10 Bottles Produced: 384

Samaroli Four Origins – Davidoff Blended Rum (2022)

$360.00
Blended Rum. Special release for Davidoff. Bottled in Scotland in 2022. As the glass approaches our nose, let’s ask whether this rum is a classic Jamaica, or not the same as the last one we tried, or have we changed? Indeed, this spirit requires a somewhat metaphysical approach. We stand before an essence which we return to you with as little interference as possible. It is practically what was extracted from the cask in July 2022. A sparkling and pungent nose. At its peak, Sicilian aromas such as almond, marzipan, sesame and Mediterranean spices. Maturity, concreteness, breadth and opulence. All the results of the knowledge acquired during all the time it has been resting. In the mouth it is complete, satisfying and fragrant to the point where the alcohol takes second place. A wealth of flavours from the old oven on a Sunday morning. Tones of yeast, vanilla and croissant which crown sparkles of mint, mimosa and spring flowers. We approach greedily and leave sated, fulfilled and appeased. Composition: Blended with Jamaica 2015 / Mauritius 2015 / Trinidad 2010 / Nicaragua 2000. Bottles Produced: 331

Samaroli 2012 Jamaica Single Origin Rum Cask #45 (2024)

$250.00
Nature in Jamaica is an untouched paradise of emerald mountains, cascading waterfalls, and pristine beaches lapped by turquoise waters. The island is alive with the scents of blooming hibiscus, the songs of tropical birds, and the gentle rustle of palm trees swaying in the trade winds. From the lush Blue Mountains to the coral reefs of Montego Bay, Jamaica’s landscapes are a sanctuary for the senses. The aromas of this rum are a sensory adventure. Thanks to its high ester content and wild fermentation, it bursts with complexity and intensity, offering incredible notes of overripe banana, pineapple, and mango, intertwined with zesty hints of lime and orange peel. A subtle funk, characteristic of its Jamaican heritage, mingles with warming spices like clove and nutmeg, rounded out by a whisper of caramel and floral undertones. On the palate, it is a bold and electrifying journey. Bright tropical fruit flavours dominate, balanced by layers of molasses sweetness, a touch of black pepper spice, and earthy undertones. The texture is rich and velvety, with an almost tangy vibrancy that keeps each sip exhilarating. The finish is long and unforgettable, leaving traces of candied citrus, and a lingering warmth that calls you back for more. It’s a rum that doesn’t just tell a story—it sings the essence of Jamaica with every drop. Composition: 2012 Jamaica from Restricted distillery (H), Ex bourbon barrel single cask number 45, Pot Still, Molasses. Tropical ageing 5 years Aged: 12 Years Bottles Produced: 252

Samaroli 2004 Guyana Collection 1 Single Origin Rum Cask #88 (2024)

$330.00
There is a river in the northeast of South America, a river that carries the legacy of a land into the Atlantic—a land that has forever captivated the imaginations of explorers. Along its storied banks, vital energy points emerged, giving rise to distilleries that transformed rum into a noble spirit, elevating it to the ranks of the great distilled treasures. Though its name can no longer be freely spoken or tied to our RUM, we can whisper that the river is called DEMERARA. Hidden along this fabled path lies the key to discovering the evolution of a Guyanese rum— a journey unveiled through an exclusive collection, revealed year after year. Each sip tells a tale of vibrant complexity: bright citrus and ester-rich notes dance with the briny whisper of olive and the zest of kaffir lime leaves. The flavours of tropical fruits—kiwi, papaya, mango, and green pineapple—burst forth, harmonized by a subtle herbaceous freshness that lingers like a graceful echo on the palate. *First Release of The Guyana Collection Composition: 2004 Guyana from Diamond distillery, Ex bourbon barrel single cask number 88, SXG, Single Wooden Pot Still, Molasses.
