    A Bordeaux-style red wine from the Napa Valley, comprised of all five varietals , is hard to find. We’ve been lucky to source quality fruit from long time growers on both the valley floor and surrounding hillsides; and while finding Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec can be difficult, their contributions to the resulting wine make it worthwhile. A prime example of our house style—accessible, massive, and memorable—the bottle empties quickly (a slight disappointment when discovered) for the bottle weight suggests differently, and searching for another bottle ensues. Our good friend and fellow winemaker, Greg Gorman, photographed the label. Powerful aromatics escape the glass with rich notes of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, peppercorn and a touch of chaparral supported by a frame of sweet oak. Intensely layered and decadent on entry, the wine exudes characteristics of black plum, boysenberry, kirsch and dark chocolate with a silky soft yet weighty texture. A prolonged finish of Provençal lavender, fig leaf and ripe currants close out the wine.

    Our fruit was harvested by hand at the end of February then whole-bunch pressed and settled in tank before transfer to tank and barrel for fermentation. The wine underwent a partial malolactic fermentation and was aged for 10 months – part in stainless steel tank to retain fresh fruit flavours, part in barrel for added complexity. We used a mix of old and new French oak barrels. Crisp & Refreshing, White, Medium-bodied wine. Great with river trout, Asian style dishes, roast chicken.

    COMPOSITION 100% Chardonnay WINEMAKER’S NOTES Grapes are harvested at first light and whole clusted pressed in order to obtain the structure provided by the stems. The juice sits for 24 hours and is then racked off. Part of the wine is barrel fermented in neutral oak with wild yeasts, and the rest in stainless steel tanks. Thirty percent of the wine undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation, enhancing the Chardonnay softness and creaminess without losing the freshness. 2018 VINTAGE An extraordinary season, with significant rainfall in the winter, accumulating a record average of the last ten years in the Casablanca Valley. Temperatures were moderate during the whole season, giving way to a slow maturity curve, achieving very good quality physiological maturity. The grapes were harvested in optimum condition, with the maximum fruit expression of the Casablanca Valley, delivering fresh, intense and long wines.
