La Fontaine De Coincy Bas-Armagnac 1989
$930.00
La Fontaine de Coincy is a small, family-owned and run distillery in Bas-Armagnac. Currently managed by the gregarious Henri-Bruno de Coincy, the de Coincy family have made outstanding Armagnac in the region for an astounding 700+ years. After making his transition from corporate banking back into the family spirits business, one of Henri’s first and most impressive achievements was to reunite more than 30 separate plots of land that had been sold off over the previous generations when cash was short. These combined plots have now been amalgamated to re-form the family’s original Domaine de Toujun estate in its entirety. The property now produces a still white wine as well as all the grapes for the de Coincy line-up of Armagnac. Exceedingly rare, and almost exclusively sold to 3 star Michelin restaurants in France, this remains one of the rarest Armagnacs you can buy.

Bas-Armagnac, a refined spirit, graces the gilded salons of downtown palaces and smoky gourmet brasseries in the European countryside.
Distilled using a double-heating method since 1982, it complements old vintages crafted with a single-heating technique from 1888. La Fontaine de Coincy showcases a passionate winemaker's dedication amidst fierce competition for these prestigious spirits, valued at the price of gold. Radiant and luminous, La Fontaine de Coincy Bas-Armagnac greets the senses with an aromatic bouquet of butter, vanilla, and cooked prune, offering suppleness and breadth.
Its defining characteristics are elegance, buttery richness, fruity notes, and flexibility. The palate is enveloped in powerful floral richness, concluding with a delicate hint of tobacco, as fruits evoke grapes, apricots, prunes, and orange peel. The finish is refreshingly crisp with nuances of eucalyptus.
