Blended Rum from Single Origin Jamaica. Bottled in Scotland in 2023. Why is a Sicilian icon to be found along the banks of the river Don? Simple: persecuted Orthodox Christians escaped east from southern Italy and took what was most sacred with them. Spirituality is constituent to humans and makes us capable of everything. We dare to blend different barrels with the same devotion and perseverance in order to create our rhapsody of Jamaica rum. The assembly emanates from a range of Jamaican barrels like jewels encrusting ancient crowns. Life springs forth as a rum endowed with rhythm, music and happiness. The pungent effervescent tones surprise and conquest us as they almost fizz on our palate. Mediterranean to the core, astounding. Rich in innuendos which do not betray what the nose has promised. Solvent, fruit, balsamic minty notes alternating in a complex beat. Dedicated to those persecuted because of their ideas, and those forced to leave everything for a life worthy of being lived. Such heroes belong to any age, including this one. Single Origin Rum from Trinidad & Tobago. Single Cask. Bottled in Scotland in 2023. We did it. This one is to celebrate our baroque feast, our community which never closed up into itself, the team always playing forward. Our orchestra which is always open to new talent has identified a new great soloist. It reaches us from 1997 and it is a Caroni rum - one of the last. You all know the story of course. Or, you will have heard of it: the madness of a government dismantling its own distillery, the lost barrels found full of a rum like very few others in the world, able to speak to a niche of chosen few. We say: we prefer legends when they become concrete reality. And therefore, in our Caroni we detect a powerful and slightly disquieting opening of hydrocarbons, but immediately after a more delicate dose of rubber and black fruit. Then coffee, forest wood and a good length of black pepper. A lively mouth, one much more alive than what the nose had given prelude to. There is milk chocolate, coconut, dates, menthol.
