Podere Le Ripi Amore e Magia 2016

$160.00
Amore e Magia 2016 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Curiosity leads to Culture leads to Sensitivity leads to Enthusiasm leads to Love leads to Magic leads to Universal Love. Because Everybody feels the Magic. Therefore, Curiosityis a Universal Gift. - Francesco Illy Tasting notes: A deep ruby red, richer when compared to wines from our other vineyards. In the nose it expresses itself as a symphony of aromas going from the intense smell of red orange and violet to the fresh balsamic note of herbs. This vineyard is characterized by a more creamy and silky taste coupled with a fun and vibrant saltiness. Serve with roast meat, aged cheeses and pasta. Serving temperature from 16Ā° to 18Ā°C. "Aromas of underbrush, leather, baked plum and camphor meld together on this full-boded red. On the fleshy, already approachable palate, enveloping, fine-grained tannins surround raspberry jam, vanilla, tobacco and licorice. Tangy acidity keeps it balanced. Drink 2023ā€“2028." - 95 points, Wine Enthusiast "A focused, polished red with dark-berry, cherry, walnut and dried-flower aromas and flavors. Medium to full body and firm, caressing tannins. Lovely finesse and polish to this. Dusty texture. Needs a year or two to soften, but already pretty. Better after 2022." - 93 points, James Suckling

Arnaldo Rivera Barolo DOCG Ravera 2018

$138.00
The nose is intensely smoky, with raspberry and strawberry aromas. The calcareous white soils produce beautiful fruit aromatics, whilst the due-south sun-facing aspect add considerable depth to the fruit and ripeness to the firm tannins. Directness of fruit is also brought forward by a degree less oak than their other Cru wines, with some smaller format wood -- but none of it new. It's sleek and stylish, a lifted wine that's taut and spicy with fine-grained tannins. There's tension and persistence here, with a long and elegant finish. A long and profound Barolo to approach now or cellar a good while, the Ravera is a classic. "Quite a spicy nose, together with plum, red-tile and deeper, earthy notes. Medium-bodied with firm tannins that feel a little dry, at least for now. But thereā€™s very good concentration of fruit. The tannins should sink better into the wine with time. Structured. Try from 2024." - 93 points, James Suckling
