Cocchi Americano Bianco

$68.00
AMERICANO
Cocchi Americano is an aromatized wine created in 1891 by Giulio Cocchi and since then produced without interruption according to the original recipe. The name ā€œAmericanoā€ is both due to the alcohol made bitter (ā€œamaricatoā€) by the addition of herbs and spices and to the American habit of drinking vermouth with ice and soda. Produced according to Giulio Cocchi original recipe, Cocchi Americano is recognized in Asti as the aperitif par excellence ā€“ a real piece of history of our town. On its label the original futurist rooster designed in the 30ā€™s and representing his aperitif function (ā€œit awakes the appetiteā€) as well as one of the symbols of the town of Asti. botanical-library-americano-new
CHARACTERISTICS
Cocchi Americano, for its nature, represents the link between wine and liquors being a wine plus a small quantity of alcohol bittered (ā€œamaricatoā€) by the infusion of precious herbs and spices: white wine, sugar, herbs and spices infusion in alcohol and in particular gentian flowers and leaves, Artemisia, Cinchona, bitter orange peel, elderflower and others. To produce Cocchi Americano, white wine is aromatized with the extracts obtained through a cold infusion in alcohol, then refined for balancing the spicesā€™ aromas and tastes.
HOW TO DRINK IT
The classic version sees it served well chilled in a cocktail glass with ice cubes, completed with a splash of seltz so to free all its aromas and typical perfumes. It can be perfected with a squeezed out orange peel. The Spritz Americano version foresees the use of a wine glass plus the addition of a dry sparkling wine. It becomes Royale in combination with a metodo classico Alta Langa DOCG. In the Summer version the glass is filled with chopped-up ice, making a perfect refreshing drink. The naturally bitter note of Americano is not lost even when abundantly diluted. In mixology, Cocchi Americano is exceptionally versatile for the classic cocktails as Vesper Martini, Corpse Reviver #2, White Negroni, as modifier or as a base for the aromatizing infusions. Particularly successful the combination with spirits such as gin, vodka and metzcal. It is a perfect ingredient for the new strong trend of the ā€œlow octaneā€ cocktails with low alcoholic content.

Is there a difference between ginger beer and ginger ale?Ā  Quite a bit. Ginger beer is traditionally brewed and fermented like, well, a beer. Ginger ale on the other hand is a carbonated beverage made from water and ginger. Ginger beer tends to have much more of a "fiery ginger" kick, and itā€™s less carbonated and sweet than your fizzy ginger ales.

The London NĀ°1 Sherry Cask

$117.30
GonzĆ”lez Byass has launched a limited-edition Sherry-cask-aged London No.1 gin, with only 5,000 bottles due to be released each year. The London No.1 is matured for three months in Jerez in Sherry casks that have been used to age fino brand TĆo Pepe. The gin itself is made in London, with botanicals including lemon peel, liquorice and bergamot. It will be launched in 30 markets internationally as well as in bars worldwide. The London NĀŗ1 Sherry Cask, is the product obtained by the distillation in copper stills of a maceration of its 12 botanicals in alcohol of grain and later aging in American oak casks that have previously contained wine from Jerez (TĆo Pepe). This aging gives it a pale-yellow color due to the extraction of oak wood components. The gin goes through an aging process of 3 months in these sherry casks that have previously contained TĆo Pepe for more than 10 years. It has an alcohol content of 43 degrees which is the most suitable for the best assembly of each and every one of the aromatic characters of the gin and wood. Louis M. Martini Lot 1 2019

$340.00
Winemaker Notes Our concept of small-lot winemaking dates back to 1948 when Louis M. Martini began ranking his most exceptional Cabernet lots to use for a special selection blend. We honor this attention to detail with every vintage we make, fermenting Lot No. 1 in small open-top tanks, which allow for a high level of precision when extracting color and flavor. All lots were alternately punched down and pumped over up to four times daily to build the desired foundation for the wineā€™s mouthfeel. Our barrel program for Lot No. 1 is also unique, with the primary component being 36-month air dried French oak. This longer drying time encourages rich tannin structure throughout the duration of the wineā€™s 19 months in barrel (83% new). Notes of crĆØme de cassis, black cherry, green olive and dried fennel root extend from the nose through to the supple, bold palate. The unctuous finish uncovers layers of oak that you would expect from a classic Napa Cabernet. Varietal: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon "Deep and concentrated blueberries, dark chocolate and espresso flavors fill out this powerful but polished wine whose firm but gentle tannins will carry it to a long life. It's the top-of-the-line Cabernet from the now Cabernet-centric 90-year-old winery. Best from 2027ā€“2040." - 96 points, Wine Enthusiast, September 2023
