SOILS
The vines producing our cuvƩe Vivant Micault were originally planted as an English garden. They grow on fine alluvial formations from the Avant-Dheune river and create a fruity Pinot Noir that is particularly enjoyable when young.
WINEMAKING
Hand-harvested biodynamic grapes, hand-sorted on a vibrating table. 25% whole-cluster, placed into stainless steel fermentation vats by gravity flow. Vertical press. Placed in French oak barrels for aging on fine lees. Light filtration before bottling.

Our Vougeot Premier Cru "Les Petits Vougeots" 2022 is an elegant and complex wine. Behind its beautiful ruby color, it shows a fruity nose of blackberry and black cherry, with lightly toasty and peppery notes. The palate is harmonious and elegant, with perfectly integrated tannins.

Surrounded by two prestigious Grands Crus, "Les Petits Vougeots" is a tiny and highly sought-after vineyard in the CƓte de Nuits and an excellent representation of the outstanding quality of the Vougeot appellation. Its marl and limestone-rich soils lend delicacy and depth to the wine.

Hand-harvested grapes. Weeks-long maceration, with pumping-over and punching-down. Pressing in pneumatic press. Placed in French oak barrels for aging on fine lees. Light filtration before bottling.

TASTING NOTES
With its brilliant, bright ruby color and purple undertones, our Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2019 is a complex, generous and aromatic wine. The flattering nose reveals delicate powdery aromas along with notes of dried flowers, roses and red fruit, highlighted by peppery notes. The palate is fresh, round and generous, while the tannins are silky with a light sweetness. The very full and complex finish gives this wine power and grace. A great Pommard for aging, but one which can also be appreciated today.

The largest monopole in Burgundy, Clos Marey-Monge benefits from a unique environment protected by a two-meter-high stone wall. Positioned at the base of the hill of Pommard, the complexity of our vineyardās soils comes from the alluvia, sand and gravel carried by the Avant-Dheune river a thousand years ago. Our blend of the seven cuvĆ©es from the limestone and clay-rich soils of the Clos creates a deep, elegant, and sophisticated Pinot Noir.

Known for giving body and structure to our Clos Marey-Monge Monopole, our Grands Esprits cuvƩe makes a Pommard of great quality and structure. With its intense ruby color and expressive nose marked by aromas of red fruit and spices, it stands out as a perfectly balanced wine. The palate is clean, with structured and dense tannins. A long finish brings a touch of elegance to this complex cuvƩe.

SOILS
Planted between 1970 and 1980, the vines giving birth to our Grands Esprits cuvƩe grow on rocky, limestone-rich soils. They produce a beautifully linear Pinot Noir with firm tannins and excellent potential for long aging.

A pure expression of a minimally oaked Pinot Noir, our Micault 2020 displays a deep ruby color. Famille Carabello-Baum and ChĆ¢teau de Pommard are thrilled to reveal Simone 2018, the newest vintage of the estateās iconic wine from the Clos Marey-Monge. With 1,800 bottles produced in the most generous years, Simone is the familyās rarest cuvĆ©eāavailable by allocation only.
The delicacy, intensity, and structure of a red wine strongly depend on the quality of the internal surface of clay contained in the soil. The higher the internal density, the more a vineyard can produce grand cuvĆ©es. With an internal surface density of 736 square meters per gram, Simone holds Burgundyās record, beating the greatest Grands Crus of the region. Why force Nature? ChĆ¢teau de Pommardās winemaker is convinced that this rich and intense Pinot Noir does not need human intervention to express itself fully.
