Locations E4 Spanish Red Wine

$52.70
The interplay of provenance, artistry, freedom, and creativity is what inspires us at Locations. With the Iberian Peninsula serving as a backdrop, this fertile ground allowed us to incorporate these attributes into the fourth release of our Spanish offering. Much like generations of craftsmen before us, we were intent to capture the nobility of Spain through its geographic diversity. Fruit with Mediterranean and Continental influences was sourced from five regions in particular: Priorat, Jumilla, Toro, Rioja, and Ribera del Duero. Old vines, low yields, and a palate attuned to excellence, work in harmony and enable us to reach our goal of producing a great wine, from the best locations in the world. The wine presents a dark, polished amethyst with aromatic notes of white pepper, tobacco, and black currant emerging from the glass. A silky mouthfeel with a palate of dark plums, black raspberry, and hints of French vanilla closes with subtle tart black cherry and a lengthy, structural finish. A blend of Grenache/Garnacha, Tempranillo, Monastrell, and Carignan/Cariñena Barrel aged 10 months prior to release. "Aromas of sweet strawberries with citrus and floral undertones, as well as blueberries and hot stones. Full-bodied with chewy tannins and a flavorful, lightly austere finish. This shows tone and texture. A blend of garnacha, tempranillo, monastrell and carinena. Drink or hold." - 92 point, James Suckling

Gonzalez Byass Una Palma

$54.00
The Macharnudo and Carrascal ‘pagos’ (estates) deliver an expression of the best of our land in this intense, salty, richly flavoured and mineral Fino. The solera comprises 139 barrels that undergo biological ageing for more than 6 years. Three have been selected for this release, numbers 84, 11 and 90, from the second floor of the Gran Bodega Tío Pepe. The three barrels were selected for their special finesse and delicate nature and because they are a faithful reflection of how Tío Pepe evolves. Barrel 84, 11 and 90 display aromas of breadmaking, almonds, talcum powder and the veil of Flor. The wine is elegant, very dry, richly flavoured, salty and slightly bitter on the palate.

Gonzalez Byass Dos Palmas

Beronia Gran Reserva 2015

$69.00
VINTAGE
The weather during 2015 was marked by a cold, damp winter with plenty of rain and four snowfalls. The vines sprouted somewhat later than usual but the high spring temperatures meant they flowered ten days earlier than normal. The vines retained their head start right through to the harvest. Favourable weather throughout the growing cycle promoted excellent vine health. One of the most outstanding features of the 2015 harvest was that it took place almost simultaneously right across the DO Ca. Rioja Designation, starting in early September in the earliest eastern areas and ending in the first few days of October in the highest areas. WINEMAKING After the best grapes were carefully selected from the Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo vineyards, they were cold macerated for several days prior to fermentation. Alcoholic fermentation took place next, at between 26 and 28ºC, with periodic pumping over. The must was allowed to macerate again post-fermentation. Lastly, Beronia Gran Reserva 2015 spent 28 months in French oak barrels, completing its ageing with a further 36 months in bottle prior to release. WINEMAKER’S NOTES Beronia Gran Reserva 2015 is a very deep garnet colour. On the nose it displays a vast array of aromas, from stewed ripe fruit to prunes and nuts such as walnuts. Subtle hints of tobacco and powdered cacao also come through, together with white pepper and balsamic notes that add freshness. It delivers distinct notes of fruit and nuts on the palate, which provide structure and tannin. The wine is long, very complex, balanced and also sophisticated. SERVING AND PAIRING Best served at 15º-17ºC with red meat, roast beef, mature cheese and chocolate desserts. Recommended for drinking from release until 2034.
