Founded in 1968 in Rome, Italy, Samaroli was an importer for the first decade of its existence. During the 1980s Samaroli began to source more individual releases of whisky directly from Cadenhead’s and as the years went by most of the bottlings were at cask strength. Silvan Samaroli ran his independent bottling business for decades before being taken over by Antonio Bleve in 2008, however, Silvan maintained an active role in the company up until his death in February 2017. Today, Samaroli bottlings are still hugely sought after by whisky enthusiasts worldwide.

“Whether you’re a beginner or an aficionado, having a bottle of Samaroli in your hand will almost certainly open your senses, mind and spirit.”

Samaroli is one of the earliest independent bottlers and the most famous and influential Italian importers of their time.

Samaroli 1994 North British Single Grain Scotch Whisky Cask #80 (2024)

$295.00

Wheat is the timeless wheel that has turned the steps of humanity from the dawn of history to the present moment. Around the fields of golden grain, the first settlements took root, and battles—both ancient and modern—were waged. We cherish the tales of simple folk, like my father, who journeyed hundreds of miles to gather this precious harvest in its season, when the entire year's labour and sweat hung in the balance. From lives like his, stories like ours are born, for we are the living history—no one should feel left out or unrecognised, whether they have devoured countless books or speak with few words.

And now, we present an evolution of wheat—an opportunity to savour today the essence of a grain that sprouted and was toasted thirty years ago. In its calcareous and stately presence, we discover floral undertones, notes of dried fruits, sultanas, apricots, and a whisper of honeyed sweetness. Grainy and malty hints blend with biscuit notes, touches of coconut and almond, creating a tropical and nutty embrace, a subtle hint of delicate smoke. History is us… This plate of wheat. I learned to dream when childhood was already far behind me... Composition: 1994 North British distillery, Ex Laphoraig Quarter Cask single cask number 80, Column Still, Grain whisky. Aged: 30 Years

Samaroli 2009 Tamnavoulin Single Malt Scotch Whisky Cask #1978 (2024)

$295.00

We love deeply, and through our whiskies, we find ourselves compelled to teach the art of dreaming. The profound silences of the Scottish valleys have always been the backdrop to our wildest, most magical escapes—those moments stolen between Greek and Mathematics, between a call and a quiet chat... the endless school days, and the long hours at work.

We once dreamed of being Astronauts, Explorers, Rock Stars, and who knows what else... And in the end, we come to realize that we are everyday heroes, quietly enduring, fighting, and always dreaming. Our senses dance like lovers in a parade, the nose and palate entwined in a symphony of aromas: orchard fruits, banana bread, cereal notes, a hint of citrus and herbs, stone fruits, fresh flowers. Each taste is a moment of pure passion.

I learned to dream when childhood was already far behind me...

Samaroli Blended Scotch Whisky (2024)

$255.00

That tune, that song… often the emotions that find us out are too strong, the nostalgia sneaks up on us too quickly. You used to listen to that song with your folks… and now you aren’t with them, or they are simply not around anymore. Your memory feeds back sensations and feelings that the encaged present cannot capture; it is incapable of rationalising. But they occur, and they are the ones who will take your place, and in your honour that same melody, that same music, becomes a masterpiece of man’s ingenuity, capable of transcending the future and moving closer to those indescribable moments of infinity and eternity.

In the same way this blend was born with the precise intent of enabling those who are getting to know us what past we have been capable of bringing about and at the same time to remind those who know us well who we are now and that this is what we wish to be.

Listen, the backing track of two renowned Speyside distilleries harmonizes beautifully, creating an aromatic bouquet worthy of a solo in the spotlight. It begins with a slow overture, gradually unfolding into a symphony of ripe stone fruits—peach, apricot, and nectarine—infused with honey, citrus zest, and a subtle hint of cinnamon and vanilla. Toasted notes add an elegant touch. On the palate, it is majestic, warm, and harmonious, evoking the comforting essence of sweet baked treats.

Samaroli 1996 Springbank Magnifico (2022)

$9,500.00
Single Malt Whisky. Bottled in Scotland in 2022. Taste of Whisky. We’ve gone back several times, we’ve waited... We’ve tasted and tasted again and found a tone, a scent... a note that is the only common denominator in all the equations that this spirit gives us and shows us. And then, with childlike simplicity, we looked at one another and said: it tastes of whisky!!! I personally dedicate this Cask to all those at Samaroli... their hard work gives us all something to drink. To those who write to you... this job has given and continues to give even more. The nose is monumental, the cornerstone of a temple that could celebrate the aroma of Speyside. Fresh fruit heading towards over-ripenening, lavender and spring shrubs. The palate is salty, with hints of sulphur and a subtle fruitiness with, as we said, that aftertaste of whisky. Blend Composition: Cask No. 567 from Springbank Distillery Bottles Produced: 195

Samaroli 2009 Allt-A-Bhainne (2023)

$450.00

Bottled in Scotland in 2023.

Let’s try to imagine a certain kind of Scotland. One with peat bogs and columns of fog as thick as wax that only the sharp call of a bagpipe can cut through, if persistent enough. That of clans and the men descending to the lowlands to talk, and maybe fight. Now it might be easier to imagine this malt with the most Gaelic of names which seems to emerge out of a Codex from a mediaeval Abbey.

One of those treasures on which an amanuensis (ora et labora…) was called to toil for an entire lifetime. Take a step beyond if you like and invoke the Lord of the Rings with all his Dragons, Orcs and Elves, . . We have now paused in front of the monk who is at the Incipit of a classic, one never copied before. The first gloss we note is that of a very rhythmic nose with peaks made up of alternates. Immediately after we see a quality pertaining to Speyside classics: bread, yeast, fruit, and damp prairie grass. Then we turn over the page to discover balsamic tones of rosemary, oregano and lavender. The palate is well defined with a dry, savoury, tasteful flavour, and featuring rich characteristics. The finish is only just fruity and very balsamic and mineral. A whiskey uniting the diverse qualities of Speyside and Highlands in order to marry them up (fortunately) into a single original whole. As often - or always - is the case, our objective is that of doing. No more.

To educate means to bring forth. In today's information saturated world, amidst all the noise, such a connection becomes vital. We embark on a new journey as we focus on nurturing young emerging talents, whom we shall refer to as apprentices. After exploring various options, we finally settled on Speyside.

The aim is to grasp, learn, comprehend, understand, and acquire the essence of what stimulates the human intellect. Every dedicated student cherishes their mentor, but it should be reciprocated.

This young spirit exhibits vibrant and fresh notes, with a malty introduction accompanied by hints of green apple, honey, yellow stone-fruit, and a touch of citrus. It possesses liveliness and unpredictability, requiring time to settle down and allow the olfactory impressions to solidify upon savoring.

Samaroli Architectus Blended Malt (2023)

Bottled in Scotland in 2023.

Here we present a blend of single malt and grain whiskies aged in sherry oak casks, originating from various city-states of Scotland and their distilleries. We have chosen the title “Architectus" to provoke those who dare to taste this blend, marked by impertinence and hubris. It is agile, simple, and clear, crafted by carefully selecting the finest elements.

Upon nosing, it delivers a shocking aroma, fruity and delicate. On the palate, it offers a magnificent combination of flowers, sweet fruits, dried fruits, toasted nuts, cereals, and sweet spices. The fragrance of the Scottish fields gracefully merges with the mischievous sherry notes, creating a seamless and majestic experience that unfolds towards the southern horizon. Enhanced by a gentle summer glow, we find ourselves immersed in its captivating aroma as the sun slowly descends beyond the hills.

Samaroli 1994 Macallan Sherry Oloroso Magnifico (2022)

$12,800.00
Single Malt Whisky. Bottled in Scotland in 2022. How can we not get emotional before a twenty-eighter in Oloroso sherry? A path beginning in 1994 and ending today. A bridge in time during which the world has evolved by a leap previously never recorded in history. As all was shifting at such speed, our Macallan was there resting and getting ready by breathing in the rhythm of the seasons, becoming fine-tuned in the Scottish climate along with its Iberian companion. An elderly land, this mistreated old Europe of ours, from the northeastern folds of which a work of art reaches your glass and is ready to enthral, dragging with it the landscapes, aromas and everything humans have lived through and done from the dawn of time. Descending along the Atlantic and skirting Gascony, our imaginary itinerary dissolves into the highlands of Spain where the marriage is complete and enriched by panoramas and fragrances taking flight among the saline Asturias and Andalusian Moorish flashes. The nosing immediately awakens a fan of long-dozing sulphurous notes which are unleashed as the whisky conquers the sides of our glass. After freeing itself, the saline somewhat kicks in, but not without a certain fragrant quality. Finally and surprisingly it comes across as sweet in the mouth, as succulent as cherries in May. Here an extinguished match, there a thermal fumarole. A range of strident yet oily scents. We find these perceptions overturned on the palate, the sweet tones liberated quickly and the more linear suite of sensations playing hard to get, even resisting until the finish. Dried fruits and quince jam- yes, opposites do attract and complement each other to a tee-in a medley of shades and impressions which unfortunately have been long forgotten.
