Baron Benjamin de Rothschild had the real desire to create his own Sauvignon Blanc. He purchased around 24 hectares of vineyard, ideally located on the prestigious Rapaura Road, in the heart of the Marlborough region of New Zealand. This areaā€™s cool climate is perfect for ripening high quality sauvignon blanc grapes and providing them with their typical lemon and grapefruit flavours, together with crisp acidity. The wines come from a single vineyard named Rimapere, meaning ā€œfive arrowsĀ» in the Maori language, pays a dual tribute to the Rothschild familyā€™s emblem and the traditional local culture.
  • Winemaking: Gentle pneumatic pressing, cold settling, fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for 3 weeks (11 to 18 C)
  • Soil type:Ā Rapaura Series, Stony Soil free draining, with a small Silty top layer
  • Varietals: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
  • Food and wine:Ā Can be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif or with a carpaccio of scallops.

The vineyard meaning ā€œFive Arrowsā€ in Maori and simultaneously honours the Rothschildā€™s family coat of arms (five arrows symbolising the five sons of dynasty founder Mayer Amschel Rothschild) and traditional New Zealand culture.
  • Winemaking : Gentle pneumatic pressing of the whole bunches, cold settling, fermentation in barrels and in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks up to 4 weeks (11 to 18 C).

Rimapere pinot noir comes from a single vineyard ideally located on the prestigious Rapaura Road, in the Wairau Valley, in the heart of the Marlborough region. This areaā€™s cool climate and stony soil are perfect for ripening high-quality pinot noir. The name Rimapere, meaning ā€œfive arrows Ā» in the Maori language, pays a dual tribute to the Rothschild familyā€™s emblem and the traditional local culture.
  • Winemaking: Cold soak (7C) for a week in temperature controlled stainless steel open top tanks. Part of ferments had whole bunch inclusion. Ferments for a week with indigenous yeasts with pumping over and gentle hand punching. One week post ferment maceration.
  • Soil type:Ā Rapaura Series, Stony Soil free draining, with a small Silty top layer
  • Varietals: 100% Pinot Noir
  • Food and wine:Ā Can be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif, or with white meats (chicken), veal, and meat with a sauce (truffle, morel), or cheese.
